8 years round

8 years round is an electronic / ambient / alt-rock band based out of New Zealand. The band is primarily a recording focused project led by composer and guitarist/keyboardist Steve Grant.

8 years round debut album, Immersion, is an album of exploration inspired by the day to day — touching on a love of animals, the loss of close friends, watching the night sky, though to experiences sailing and scuba diving. In particular, the joy of hearing dolphins and whales while weightless underwater is something that is treasured.

Sonically, the album moves through a variety of tonalities and mirrors the themes of life's diversity with its wide mix of guitars, mystical keys, world instruments, ranging rhythms and laid back vocals all helping to convey each songs story. Eclectic and diverse, the albums tempered spirits keep the listener engaged and pleasantly surprised.

Recording is currently underway on the sophomore album targeting a late 2024 release. Sadly events over the last few years has slowed down our progress. Keep your eyes and ears open for this fresh, original, and seasoned band as it continues to expand its diverse sound.
